Cayo Costa Island
location: State of Florida, Cayo Costa State Park
Visited Cayo Costa Island during April. Stayed in cabin #7 which is near bath house, beach access, and isolated from other cabins. Departed Pine Island at 1pm by ferry and it took about 60 mins to motor across the sound. When we arrived, you need to unload your gear from the ferry and onto a truck/tram, and also register at the park office. It was really rushed and you need to move fast. FYI, when you are registering for the camping spot, buy a bag of ICE for 3.00, instead of doing it later before 4:30 when the park office closes. List of items we wish we did/ or have...
- saltwater fishing rod and casting net
- Buy a five day super awesome cooler, not the base model from target. Ice will melt within one day with the typical coolers. Other campers proved the 5 day cooler were able to store ice for several days.
- Paddle to Cabbage Keys for a cheese burger
